  • My daughter is flying to Paris as I type. She will arrive there around 11:00am Paris time.  I wish I could say how happy I am for her and how excited I am for this amazing opportunity, but right now I am sad.  She is this wonderful, fun, talented young lady that plays the piano in the evening and frequently plays us to sleep. It is not that I am all sad about the empty nest thing, because that is really fine.  I think it is more like you have a very dear friend and now you will be separated from her and it won't be the same.  I know that this life is just a tiny blip on the time line and there is all of eternity, but it is right here and now that is hurting.  But God has brought her to this place for His glory, His purpose, and because of His love.  What more could I ask for?  Thank you Lord Jesus.

  • 20 comments!  i had no idea that anyone would read this except for Joel! but now that i know, this could be so much fun.  I get to tell Joel stories, whoa, hold me back.  Ah, where should I begin, at birth, in the hospital? Ah yes, the very beginning is a very good place to start.  My very dear friend came to see very soon after Joel was born, so soon that I had not had a chance to really see Joel, if you know what i mean.  She asked if I had checked him out, head to toe.  Asking if he had all ten fingers and ten toes, and you never know, he may have webbed feet.  Well i had not checked him out head to toe yet, but as soon as the nurse brought him to me, i did! Yikes, i never knew that my friend could be so intuitive.  But in Joel's defense he is a wonderful swimmer!

  • 10 years ago my mother died suddenly at the age of 64.  My oldest son went to college and setting the table for only 4 was very sad. My middle son was sooo busy I didn't have much time to think about anything else and my daughter was entering 7th grade and driving to school, soccer, piano and other social events became a full time job.

5 years ago my husband changed careers, my oldest son was working at TRW (a real job), my middle son was entering his senior year at college, and my daughter was entering her senior year in High School and tried to do everything her brother did and more. I was still trying to support them in all of their endeavors as well as several interest of my own.

1 year ago my oldest son was celebrating his first year of marriage, my middle son was entering his first year of seminary and my daughter was entering her senior year at college (now a university) and she still was trying to do everything except maybe school related stuff.

5 snacks I enjoy are potato chips and dip, fruit, Java chip ice cream, cashews, and anything chocolate.

5 songs I know all the words to, "Jesus Loves Me" (in sign language), "You Are My Sunshine", "Madalenacatalenarubensteinawanadinahocapocamoac Was Her Name", "The Poor Ole' Slave”, and the "Bear song".

5 things I would do with a 100 million dollars, give to my church, Dayton Christian, Cedarville University, Legacy Ministries, Samaritans Purse, missionaries that we support as well as additional ones and buy a boat.

5 places I would run away to would be Stratford, Canada: Aruba; any beach that is clean and I could ride a boat to it; and wherever my children end up at to live.

5 things I would never wear, platform shoes, to low of (and you know what shows), cut off tops, a bikini, and a plastic rain hat.

5 favorite TV shows, Alias, 24, Dancing with the Stars, House, and sometimes Oprah

5 bad habits, too much FreeCell, not enough reading, too many directions with not enough focus, popping zits, and being easily influenced.

5 favorite toys from my childhood Barbie’s, stilts, a kick ball, tether ball, and my bike

5 people I tag to do this the entire Lord Jabez team (of the?'s that apply) , my daughter and anyone who likes Joel and is a female.  (You can't blame a mom for trying!)
